Reasons Your Car May be Impounded
Throughout the year, vehicles are towed to the impound lot for many reasons:
- For illegally parking or impeding traffic
- Police may order vehicles towed (cars in accidents, stolen cars, the car of someone taken into custody, etc.)
- Parking in violation of snow emergency regulations
- Parking that impedes street sweeping, seal coating, or street maintenance
- When a vehicle is abandoned (left more than 72 hours).
- When a vehicle poses an immediate danger to public safety
Avoid Being Towed
Reduce the possibility of your car being towed:
- Follow permanent and temporary street signs carefully
- Be sure to adhere to parking meter rates and restrictions
